My First Take On Final Fantasy XV

My journey began on the open road, in a magnificent and unforgiving world, with 3 other men at my side. My character, Noctis, is the spitting image of Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto and is likely equally as badass as him. He however does not travel the road alone as a rogue ninja, but does so with several loyal male companions. His epic quest and epic roadtrip across the treacherous expanse of Eos, (the planet the game takes place on) is one that I can’t wait to complete. Although I have only just scratched the surface of Final Fantasy XV, I have been enthralled by its uniqueness and its ability to make me laugh.

(Prince Noctis has no clue what he's getting into)
Disregarding for a moment the gameplay and the seemingly infinite leveling system, there is something much more important that I must address. This is the ridiculousness of all the characters. Having played Final Fantasy games before I thought by now I would be used to how corny some of them are. Having said that I must admit, Final Fantasy XV leaves them all in it’s wake by a longshot. All the characters are essentially as intense and dramatic that it feels like they’re pulled directly from an anime. To some people this could be their worst nightmare, but for me, it’s a dream come true. A prime example for this is one of the 3 men who accompany Noctis on the road, his name is Prompto.

(Legendary pic of Gladiolus by Prompto)
When it comes to Prompto, he’s dedicated to his love of photography, the results of which can be hilarious and even terrifying. Each night you camp so that you can rest, eat and of course, check out Prompto’s legendary selfies. In all honesty, his photos are probably one of the best parts of the game for me. I find myself laughing at almost every shot he takes, I’ve even saved the majority of them to treasure for all eternity. It seems like such an irrelevant part of the game but it’s random things like Prompto’s photos that make the game so much more hysterical.

(Setting up camp for the night with the boys)
Of course, I can’t forget about mentioning the British driver/chef, Ignis. Each night he counsels Noctis and constantly pesters him for help making breakfast. Behind his obnoxious personality however lies a deep passion for the culinary arts. Each night at camp you also get to choose which food you will eat that gives you stat bonuses for the next day of quests. This task is directed to nonother than the master chef, Ignis. Once you select the optimal food for your day of adventure Ignis nods and snaps his fingers. In that moment, I’m sure that he is thinking, “Ahhh, perfect”.

(Prompto is finally in one of his shots)
I’m not entirely certain if Square Enix made the characters to be funny or if it’s completely unintentional, although I think it’s likely the latter. I doubt that the way I perceive the characters is what the creators were hoping for, but I’m so glad they managed to be so ridiculous. It adds an element to the game that I would never have expected to be positive. The hilarity of the game and the characters who shape it that way made it feel like a genuinely unique experience as I played. Every action outside of combat, all of the main quest missions and the interactions between the characters are all so laughable. Final Fantasy XV wouldn’t feel complete without them. I’m sure anyone who plays will find these aspects of the game to be a crucial element to the countless hours you will put into it.

(You have to go fast if you're in Eos)
I was shocked by the world of Eos and the vast number of enemies I could fight, it’s numerous breathtaking landscapes I could discover and the mystery of what dark forces were working behind the scenes. As I traveled the world with my companions, I encountered giant demon beasts, gazelle like animals, and even some strange monster that vaguely resembled Medusa. For someone like myself who loves open world games, with unique enemies and places I found myself wondering what would come next. I was determined to discover the mysteries of Eos by vanquishing evil and by helping people who seem to always have missions for me to complete. For now, I’ve only scratched the surface of the world of Eos, but I’m eager to find out what secrets lie deeper in Final Fantasy XV.

(Where will this journey take me?)
I have only just started Final Fantasy XV but already I can tell I will spend countless hours of my free time playing it. With such a large amount of gameplay and story I know that as the game goes on it will continue to get even better. For this reason, I’ve decided that for the first time since I started my blog, I will be writing a follow-up on Final Fantasy XV. I will more than likely end up writing several posts in the coming weeks on my antics as a Noctis. I hope you read more about my adventure as I travel across Eos with the help of some interesting characters.
